On April 9, 2011, I was set on being the most modern person around!
I grab my iPhone and, as I do every week, I start making my transfers (an expert security friend of mine would tell me I’m crazy!!! Never via mobile; well, look, I did it), but in theory, the bank assures you of total peace of mind in these types of situations.
Well, it turns out I log into my bank and what happens? …
The transfer is duplicated. Damn! It’s Saturday, so I call my bank, I give a return order due to a computer error, and the lady on duty tells me it can’t be done because it’s Saturday.
At that moment, I send an email to my bank branch with an urgent subject line! Duplicated transfer due to computer error. We are talking about 356 euros x 2, meaning a lot of money: 712 BIG EUROS.
On Monday, APRIL 11, first thing in the morning, I call to confirm they received it! They tell me no; a couple of hours later I call again… Response: oh yes, yes…
1 week passes, 2 weeks… (CRICKETS) and I’m still calling… Oh, well, I don’t know, the other bank hasn’t answered!!!
18 days later, after 2 more calls, they call me. I’m in a meeting… They leave a message on the voicemail and things are already going wrong…
This is a message for Sílvia!!! María Orejón:.. Give me a break!!! 15 years at a bank and they don’t even know my name, and worst of all, the message:
You can come pick up your receipt now!!!
And I’m like: Receipt???!!! They are going to return the money via receipt!!??? And I’ll have to travel there? Is this a joke or what!?
Ok, this morning, APRIL 27, I go to my branch… and to my surprise when I arrive—not theirs, because they don’t even recognize my face…!!!
I tell him they called me yesterday to come pick up ‘the receipt’ and of course I don’t know what he’s referring to… As if he were doing me a favor, he says, oh, I don’t know... I didn’t call. I say, look, I’m Selva Orejón, the one with the duplicate transfer. He replies: oh, well, the other bank I called yesterday hasn’t answered us!!!!
Very well, man! Exactly 18 days have passed!!!! And on top of that, you tell me you didn’t call…
And he says, well, I’m going to call again, and it turns out: hello, is Alfonso there? Put him on! And then he asks about the matter of the client Silvia Maria Orejon, again!!!
Meanwhile, I play the message on speakerphone and obviously it was him!!
So he tells me: Oh, well, they haven’t answered us!!! And he says, look, you know what? The best thing is for you to speak with the beneficiary of the transfer and have them return it to you! (honestly, my jaw dropped)
Come on, don’t mess with me, man!!! I wait almost 20 days… which is going to be more, and you tell me this is the solution you’re giving me for your computer problem!!!???
Well, for being so smart, you’re going to lose a client and a direct-deposited salary every month. Useless! And you don’t even know how to apologize!
And I’m going to go with those who actually talk. Shall we talk? Parlem?
And I’m not putting the name of the entity because I want to stay friends with the CM, otherwise they would hear me even louder! So much for saying that being an online spokesperson for a company has more risks than benefits….
