Communicating with humour: a sign of intelligence

This morning we looked at an initiative by the Dinosol supermarkets. As part of their 25th anniversary celebration campaign, the supermarket chain has launched a viral campaign featuring the comedians Los Morancos. It all starts with a humorous TV spot.

Here we see two important things: on the one hand, the geographical proximity and the message. Los Morancos have a particularly entertaining and well-known sense of humour in Spain, but in the area where Dinosol operates it is even more so; therefore, they have the wind at their backs.

In case you are not familiar with the supermarket chain, it is part of the Dinosol Group , which owns the Supersol supermarket chain in the Iberian Peninsula and Hiperdino in the Canary Islands. This year they will celebrate their 25th anniversary.

If we analyse the videos, they follow the style of the TV sketches that made Los Morancos popular: fast, local, fresh and agile humour. For this occasion, they feature the characters Antonia and Omaita to do a very particular grocery shop… the videos are already being played across all specialised online channels, with considerable buzz and acceptance. In addition, for this campaign Dinosol has created two microsites featuring the comedians’ best-known jokes.

It also includes user participation, as people can take part by creating their own jokes and publishing them on the Dinosol website itself.

You can watch the videos from this campaign, and soon you will see how they start circulating online:
