“Digital identity: methods for analysing and assessing loss of image online”
is the title of Selva Orejón’s new book, co-authored with Rubén Ríos and Pilar Martín, available for purchase on Amazon in paperback and Kindle editions.

Contents of the book “Digital Identity”.

The growth of ongoing personal exposure on social media and in the digital sphere entails significant security risks. The lack of awareness of how to defend our public and private image online is now a common situation, and it is this sense of digital helplessness that prevents individuals and businesses from acting in accordance with current laws and professional ethics.

Both ordinary citizens and celebrities are potential victims of countless online attacks.

Anonymous users, or users falsely identified as legitimate, flood networks under the protection of anonymity and privacy. This is compounded by users’ passivity when it comes to their own defence, and by the legal loopholes that still exist.

The loss of authority over one’s own digital identity results in an inability to respond to reputational damage online. Legal and commercial representatives, and even users themselves, are not aware of the means available to defend against potential attacks on their public image.
