Dominican Republic Tourism on Social Media: Case Study. In the last 2 months, this organization has generated over 6,400 conversations on Facebook and attracted 4,200 users. This figure might not reveal much to those not accustomed to dealing with Social Media, but for those of us in the field, we understand its significance.

Social Media ShowerThinking has developed the strategy and implemented tools to optimize the presence of the Dominican Republic.

The Strategy

For the launch, the strategy began by inviting local Dominicans, who love their country, to spread their affection for their land and culture.

While introducing this attractive tourist destination to the Spanish public, it also connects with the Dominican people. Why? Because who better than them to speak about their land, diversity, and attractions of this Caribbean country?

All actions have been implemented with various Facebook applications coordinated by the agency’s team of community managers, an email marketing campaign targeting tour operators, online advertising campaigns on social media, and the monitoring and tracking of mentions thanks to their Social Inside platform.

A content calendar with useful information for users, combined with a series of engagement actions, has enabled the Dominican Republic’s Facebook page to gain over 4,200 followers in its second month of operation.

Key Highlights:

Over 6,400 conversations generated among its followers during this period, which were virally viewed by 460,000 users.

Result

Quantity and quality of interactions. In addition to the high number of fans achieved in record time, there is a high level of participation. Both Spanish fans who love to travel and Dominican fans of their country have shared and conversed about proposals made by the page itself, as well as through the initiative of the Dominican Republic’s followers.

Conversion of the Dominican Republic Tourism page into a common space where people from different nationalities and cultures can share and discuss gastronomy, routes, tips, activities, folklore, and must-see places when visiting the Dominican Republic.
