The trade show cements its position as the largest online business eventBarcelona, March 14, 2014 – More than 14,800 visitors were interested in meeting the 130 exhibitors and attending the 200 talks and panel discussions held over two days at eShow, the largest trade show dedicated to Ecommerce, Online Marketing, Social Media, Mobile, Hosting & Cloud Computing, and Digital Signage in the Iberian Peninsula and Latin America.
On Wednesday at 10:00, the doors opened for the tenth edition of eShow, already with a large turnout that suggested two intense days ahead. The opening ceremony was chaired by Josep Maria Recasens, Director General of Commerce of the Generalitat; Anna Majo, Chief Operating Officer for the Promotion of Strategic Sectors, Barcelona Activa, Ajuntament de Barcelona; Pere Camprubí, Director of External Business at Fira de Barcelona; and Agustín Torres, CEO of eShow.
Once again, the trade show stood out for offering a high-level programme featuring speakers from major companies, including Shazam, AirBnB, Sónar, Telefónica I+D, Atrapalo.com, Prezi, V.me by VISA, Cabestan, Ennovva, Volkswagen Audi, Remotte, and Hailo. In addition, attendees were also able to learn, through the discussion forums, about the latest technology and service solutions and the most innovative strategies for businesses to succeed online.
Highlights
eShow has demonstrated that its drive to adapt to the needs of the sector is on the right track. Events such as the NET FASHION FORUM drew a large audience interested in learning about the digital experience of brands such as Asics, Kiehl’s, Facebook, Pepe Jeans, Textura, Vente-privee.com, Territorio Creativo, Sartia, Nice Things Paloms S, PROGED, Yerse, Desigual, Chello multicanal, and 365look.
Meanwhile, EMOTA brought together professionals from international companies at the INTERNATIONAL ECOMMERCE FORUM, which featured China as the guest country. Emota’s mission is to promote, at a European level, the interests of distance sellers operating through different sales channels.
Entrepreneurs were able to take part in the Womanalia Start Up Day by ONO, where selected companies looking to launch their project online or scale it had the opportunity to present to the Keiretsu investor forum and compete for a funding round. This was complemented by the Conector Startups competition and the First Tuesday investment forum, attended by business angels and several invited investors to learn about the selected projects.
The eAwards were among the main highlights of eShow, once again recognising innovations developed by Spanish websites for their excellence, professionalism, research and development, with the aim of improving the shopping experience for customers or users, thereby becoming benchmarks of success for the e-commerce and online marketing sector. Journalist Mara Torres received the Personality of the Year award, and the companies BlaBlaCar, Tailor4less, and Rastreator received the jury’s special prize in their gold, silver, and bronze categories, respectively.
The more than 70,000 professional visitors, 400 exhibitors, 500 speakers, and 300 seminars that take place each year in Barcelona, Madrid, Lisbon, São Paulo, Bogotá, Lima, and Mexico City make eShow the sector’s leading trade show. The next event will take place on May 20 in São Paulo.
