This morning I was browsing Facebook, exploring the inner workings of this social medium, and I noticed that it is now also possible to import contacts from LinkedIn—what a great idea.
I was actually thinking about it the other day; it would be a pleasure for me to be able to import contacts from my other social networks to Facebook and vice versa, and then we would see who accepts and who does not.
The advantage, and what I believe will be the future, is having your internet identity in a way that does not depend on platforms but on people and their activity on each site, without being isolated departments.
For example, I would connect to Tuenti much more often on two conditions: if some of my Facebook friends could see what I do on Tuenti and were encouraged to also post on that platform.
And if I had alerts reminding me that there has been activity on the platform. Personally, I need a bit more prompting to remain loyal to a website; otherwise, it falls into oblivion.
Perhaps a browser bar like the Facebook Toolbar would work; I certainly use it, and while at work, it is most useful for avoiding the issue of going to your personal account.
Well, regarding importing contacts from LinkedIn, it surprised me, and even if it is like preaching in the desert, it would be good for many users to be able to do it from Tuenti, and on Tuenti—let’s see when that happens…

Oh, by the way, the other day I also thought it would be extremely useful for companies and users to have a Tuenti equivalent of Facebook Connect, a TuentiAdd or something with a name different enough not to bother anyone or cause friction, but with the same function and utility; we shall see if this possibility opens up. A developer friend tells me it would not be that difficult, but that the future lies with OpenID.
