Gender-based violence in the digital sphere and beyond: Radio Nacional de España

Selva Orejon will be on El Matí de Radio 4 tomorrow to discuss digital gender-based violence. She will not only address violence occurring on social networks, WhatsApp, or email.

She will discuss how any relationship involving abusive behavior currently manifests to a greater or lesser extent in the digital sphere. We will treat it solely as a medium—not only a technological medium but also a space where the message is amplified, achieving a greater presence in harassment and preventing the “isolation” of the individual, even when they intend to be left alone.

As usual, every two weeks onBRANDING participates in @ElmatiaRadio4 on Radio Nacional de España, hosted by Ramon Castelló, whom we thank for his willingness and constant trust in the topics we cover.

During the program, we will mention Dr. Iñaki Piñuel, an expert in the field and a true master of communicating the subject. We will cite excerpts from his books El Amor Zero and Las 5 Trampas Del Amor (essential reading for adolescents and adults); this book helps readers understand themselves and what attracts us to certain people, inviting reflection and, most importantly, debunking myths (from the Greek, lie).

We will also discuss cases, situations, and behaviors, as well as trends, obviously without revealing identities or compromising victims or perpetrators (both female and male).

In the 30-minute segment, we will also have time to mention Dr. Marie-France Hirigoyen and her extensive collection of books, Abused Women: The Mechanisms of Violence in Relationships, Abuse of Weakness: And Other ManipulationsLas Nuevas Soledades (along the lines of Piñuel, but less introspective, it helps to understand the context that enables or facilitates certain situations of personal and relational need).

All of them are enlightening and socially counter-cultural, as is also the case with Iñaki, and they open the doors to a lateral thinking that is very necessary in the times we are living in.
