The first thing is to try to specialize, and if possible, in something where you have contacts.
A master’s degree won’t be beneficial now because you need work experience to share with others. My advice: look for a job or an internship in something you truly enjoy, where you can give your all, and then pursue the master’s.

If I had to tell you how things are in Barcelona (where I’m from), I’d tell you not to even consider it. If you don’t speak Catalan, you have almost no opportunities to join large companies. I speak Catalan and had a job in Barcelona, but my partner, who is from Madrid, wanted to go, and the requirements are extremely high.

Regarding Madrid, it’s the place, within Spain of course, but not at this time; things are really bad, and I am truly optimistic. The key is to work well and be honest and honorable, which is incredibly difficult to find in companies. On the other hand, if you’re coming to Madrid, let me know; I would try to move your resume around.

Another option would be to go to another country. Not the USA now, not even as a tourist; there’s no work, not even for interns. I have friends who finished their degrees 4 years ago, went there, and are now struggling. The ideal place is Asia, specifically Hong Kong.

If I were you, and I know you haven’t asked, but what I would do is: complete a half-month or year-long internship in your city (something secure), wait for things to calm down a bit, and in the meantime, send out resumes in Madrid or the city you choose.

How to find a job during this time?
It’s essential to have an online presence. Tune up your CV. If your family has businesses or you have friends who do, inflate it a bit. I’m an expert at tuning friends’ CVs; maybe I can help you.

Then, register on professional platforms like xing.com, linkedin.com, and build your own network of contacts; they will be very useful for your future.
