MWC16 Day One Summary: Mobile Security and Privacy

MWC16 is the event of the year in Barcelona in the field, but it also represents much more. In fact, we attended to learn about different solutions related to communications security, privacy, and social intelligence.

Worth highlighting are the different companies, but we also want to reflect on the event in general. Beyond the transport strike that occurred, which left half the city quite congested, aside from this disruption, the Mobile organization, from accreditation to the app, has greatly improved.

Some of the proposals we were able to evaluate were interesting, such as apps like Enigmedia (above the rest, a dedicated post for them coming soon), twinlife, faceon, pero o lobo for brands, as well as coyote (connected service for drivers), Viber, GetTaxi, and Waze.

Another app that caught our attention was App Annie, cmtelecom, and shooter. On the other hand, also very interesting were the advertising apps, business and finance apps, education apps, entertainment apps, lifestyle and social apps, healthcare apps, medical apps, productivity apps, security apps, smart home apps, and voice and message apps.

Room for improvement: the WiFi security—same network and same password. We did not connect, obviously. It is recommended to carefully validate when you do LinkedIn connect with your pass so it does not pull the last company you updated and print it :(.

The dining and leisure spaces were also good.

Today’s presentations worth highlighting: Digital Identity for Connected Societies, Putting Privacy at the Core of Digital, and Mark Zuckerberg: Facebook. Very curious that there was a brief protest at the entrance stating: “Human rights are not respected in Catalonia” and “Mark Zuckerberg, you can stop world hunger.”

More tomorrow, because tonight there will be Mobile parties.
