MySpace Changes: New Interface, User Profiles, and Facebook Connect

MySpace has undergone an interface and design change, featuring completely different profiles and much simpler designs. It also appears that Google has finally decided to address its stalled projects.  Blogger has also changed; it is simpler and much more user-friendly, and ultimately, the expertise of those who work among ‘gurus’ is evident.

However, I observe that in this era, it seems less important to concentrate talent within a single company or organization; instead, talent and ideas circulate. This is why we see so many excellent ideas around us, in innovative projects, among young people, startups…

Today, I want to analyze the changes MySpace has implemented.

New Landing Page

Colors on a black background, featured artists based on relevance and geopositioning, and the option to link your account with Facebook.

Facebook Connect with MySpace.com

It was already obvious, but they eventually found themselves in a difficult situation and had to concede. It also indicates which friends are registered; well, how many of them will also have an unlinked account? As far as I know, the changes made have not been widely publicized.

New User Profile on MySpace
It is a thousand times simpler to customize your profile; the templates are not bad, but I would add the ability to customize font size…

Persistent Flaws in the New MySpace Version

Translations
The translations have improved slightly but remain literal, and the registration fields leave much to be desired, such as asking which ‘State’ you belong to instead of which ‘community’.

Spammers
It is full of professional spammer users; it is still very tedious to have to clean your profile of such people… and their communications…

Unpleasant Content
There are priceless profile pictures; how horrible! It looks like a ‘bakala’ within MySpace and Badoo combined, almost an AdultFinder… GRRRR, but this is the result of so many years without vertical networks, where everyone’s interests eventually converged, and there was no possibility of choosing among more networks…

What Happened to MySpace in the Last 2 Years?

There were changes in leadership, in international teams, layoffs, agreements left unfinished, powerful collaborations poorly managed or closed…

The last image I had of MySpace was from the great comic strip by the internet and geek humor geniuses… SuperNews

But today we find a change, from what seemed to be the death of MySpace to a possible revival… always based on a user base of music groups, bands, artists, photographers…

Why have they invested?
If they have decided to continue and “invest” in the platform, it is because:
– on the one hand, the environment demanded it, and because
– their loyal users had generated a community around their projects that they could not simply discard.

The Community That Moves Mountains
These people move mountains: celebrities, emerging bands, artists who cannot invest in a website, photographers who need an initial space to gain recognition… and MySpace is positioned in this niche of users.

MySpace Traffic, User Return, User Activity…
Reasonable doubts, normal, I don’t know what activity users will have, will they be active…?
