An unprecedented hack exposes Twitter’s vulnerability – El País

“It all started around 10 PM, European time, mid-afternoon in America. The Twitter social media accounts of figures like Elon Musk, Bill Gates, Joe Biden, or companies such as Apple, Uber, and others linked to Bitcoin management, began to post similar messages: “Everyone is asking me to give back, and now is the time. “We will have to analyze all the accesses that have occurred to the app for each of the different users,” says Selva Orejón, CEO of onBRANDING. “Less than a year ago, several users reported to Twitter that followers could be added and removed through a vulnerability. The fact of having obtained the money, moreover, may have been a way to flatter their ego or seek ‘recognition’ for their success externally,” she adds.”
