According to data from the Catalonia Cybersecurity Agency, in 2021 cybercrime grew at an alarming rate, up to 80% compared to 2020. Among the impacts, the data of 50% of Catalans has been exposed in recent massive data leaks.

Criminal organisations specialising in cybercrime are increasingly profiting through blackmail or ransomware attacks.

Selva Orejón was interviewed on Catalunya Ràdio’s programme “La Nit dels Ignorants”, where she explains the key factors behind this rise in cybercrime. These are some of the questions she answered in the interview:
