Cyberattack on Hospital Clínic de Barcelona – Interview with Martín Vigo on SER CATALUNYA’s “Aquí Catalunya”

The cyberattack on the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona is further proof that the wars of the future—and certainly those of the present—will not only be like those of the last century, with missiles, bombs, and bullets, but that from now on, telecommunications will also be a key element in bringing down a country. Imagine everything that functions thanks to the Internet, from the most trivial things like television or social media, to the most critical infrastructure such as hospital systems, the police, social services, GPS, traffic lights, the railway network, the aviation network, banks, etc.

Suppose an election is held and someone manages to hack the vote-counting system; what should be done? Should the election be repeated? And in this repeated election, will we accept the results as valid, or will a shadow of doubt remain?

The cyberattack on the Hospital Clínic was highly sophisticated, utilizing novel attack techniques that had not been seen before in an incident of this nature.

Martin Vigo, offensive cybersecurity expert at onBRANDING, explains who RansomHouse is—the criminal organization that has claimed responsibility for the cyberattack—and what their modus operandi was.
