Hybrid work: a major security challenge – CSO COMPUTER WORLD

Hybrid work has given rise to a new paradigm—more complex and based on cloud application environments—which poses multiple challenges for CISOs, as highlighted at the event Key security insights and challenges in the era of hybrid work, organised by CSO and Palo Alto Networks.

The meeting featured Selva Orejón, who spoke in a humanistic tone about the damage caused by cyberattacks: “We often focus on the damage to institutions and forget that behind it there are people who are the common thread of their operations,” she exclaimed. As for managing cybersecurity departments, she said, it is important to save time and stay in contact with all members because “we must keep our thinking active”.

She also reported on the fundamental role that external communication plays in resolving security crises, a matter she described as a “reputational SOC”. “The unavailability of communication channels is very detrimental, even if the company is fully secured. If you can resolve the incident internally and not reduce the media alarm, there is still a major problem.”
