Cybercriminals are currently criminal groups and mafias that are perfectly organised—“highly systematised, professional and structured”, according to Román Ramírez, an expert in strategic cybersecurity consulting and founder of Spain’s leading cybersecurity event, RootedCON.

(…) We must be aware of the risk of losing control, which is why alert tools are important, as well as understanding what we can do to remove that information.”

[Most companies, Orejón warns, are not carrying out monitoring or requesting the removal of information, and they should include this in their cybersecurity plans—especially considering that identity theft is a type of attack with a very significant reputational and financial impact. It can lead to losses for a company ranging from €1,500 to €250,000.
