In recent weeks, we have been following several cases on the same subject, and as we have not stopped at the chapter of the case we experienced firsthand at SchülerVZ, I was no longer working at that company, but we followed this news very closely.

It was not the first time we experienced an attack while we were in Germany; once, after an ill-timed comment from one of the executives: “our network is so secure that even the best hackers could not take it down” bravo, what a glorious phrase… quite a challenge, in total, 17 days offline!!!

In short, although it is not a current topic because over a year has passed, at least we can remember what happened and point to new attacks on networks, websites, and domestic actions that are theoretically harmless.

The perpetrator was 20 years old and was arrested after being under suspicion. His action on the network was to copy the personal data of 1 million people who were on SchülerVZ, a German version similar to Tuenti. It currently has 15 million users.

He was found dead in a cell at the Plötzensee juvenile prison in Berlin, ten days after he was arrested. The alarm was raised in Germany over the possibility that someone could obtain user data. Many students use pseudonyms and modify photographs in the chat, but part of the stolen information was original.
