First of all, for those who were not familiar with Google Friend Connect, let me introduce it: GFC is a Google service that allows users to connect with their friends across different websites, whether traditional sites or blogs.
In recent weeks, GFC has added new ways to strengthen the community that visits your website or blog. The idea is to make your site more attractive and give your followers new tools to interact with the content and with other users.
The downside is that, for now, they are only available in English, despite promises of an imminent translation.
For example, the Event Gadget: imagine you have an upcoming event and you want to promote it to your follower community—what do you do? You add it to your website or blog so that community members can access details and maps, confirm their attendance, and see who else will attend. You can even add the event to Google Calendar.
We can also look at the Poll Gadget. It is clear that many companies already offer online surveys and we already have gadgets for blogs… and most social networks already include this as a feature, but it never hurts to know. The good thing… you can see the faces of the users who have participated, well…
We also have the Answer Gadget application, which allows users who follow the site to ask the community questions and respond to questions posted by other members. This gadget lets users browse questions, submit answers, and vote for the ones they think are best.

To finish, we have the Comment Gadget, perhaps the most innovative. The goal is for users of your website or blog to be able to post comments and links to videos on your site. In my case, it will be quite useful—I have several blogs about parties and electronic music, so I see a good opportunity here. The best part is the language feature: it has a new translation option to read comments in multiple languages.
